• the faceless men of Braavos - the first successful terrorist group?
• conspiracy theories about "dragons" causing the "doom of Valyria" when it was in fact TFM who planned and implemented a hit on Valyrian "mages" - if Valyria, instead of being a peninsula surrounded by volcanos, was more like Denmark or Netherlands and was below the sea lever, surrounded by underwater volcanos and well-built dams (the building of the dams being Valyria's first introduction to the world of "modern technology" and the prelude to "when you fuck with nature, eventually it fucks back"), then the Doom of Valyria could be written off as a flood. The theory about volcanos causing it would still be plausible, since the activation of underwater volcanos would rise the sea levels, but TFM destroying the dams should be considered the main reason for the destruction of the city/empire.
• the lost technology of Old Valyria should stay just that - lost, - but Aegon would've listed the technologies of which existence he knew (we're gonna need an analogy for: Valyrian steel (ripping off Damascus steel is always an option), shadow bounding and maybe even architecture), leaving the future generations with the ambition of building a New Valyria, this one - indestructible.
• White Walkers do not necessarily need to be human or living. If we're interchanging magic för technology, then WW could be "war drone"s built with recycled materials. Even the death and resurrection of Viserion could be reimagined as asset stripping if done right. (read up on it)
• The winter is coming should stay the tagline for the upcoming wars but maybe we need a villain/villains by that name? WINTER could be an anagram or acronym for something else. Or, it can still mean winter-winter, and the war can be between people who need gas, energy and heating and the people who possess it. But that's not global enough, imho. + we're already living through that, we don't need more of it.
• Industrial revolutions as measurements of time in post-Targeryen history.
• Cults should be represented by famous people. Film and tv-industry should be run by Sparrows, the people of R'hllor, brotherhood without banners and so on.
• Religious freedom should be limited but not extinguished. Some parts of Westeros should be far more religious than other.
• The monetary sector should become får more complex and play a bigger role in the story.
• Less kids. Far less kids. Nobody needs 16 kids anymore.

(flexible glass must be one of the inventions Targaryens reclaimed after coming to power. all of their smart technology is made of flexible glass, but it must be very expensive and extremely rare)
